Short answer
Alignerr is a real platform with documented weekly payments and a mostly positive Trustpilot profile (4.5). The warning signs are specific: a couple of reviewers report underpayment or non-payment, one reports no projects for three months, and payment depends on the pay mode of each project. If you have expertise and read each project's billing terms before you start, it is worth a look.
What Alignerr is
Alignerr describes itself as where experts get paid to train AI, and its page says it is powered by Labelbox. It lists roles such as search quality evaluation, AI training, English writing and language experts, and says it is hiring PhDs, researchers, subject matter experts and experienced professionals.
How hiring works
Alignerr's process page lists these steps:
- Sign in and upload a resume. Your profile fills in automatically, and you review your details and location and choose your skills.
- Apply for jobs that match your skills. Each listing shows requirements and pay.
- Verify your identity by phone and by ID through Persona.
- Interview or assessment, for some jobs. Some jobs require a Zara interview or domain assessments, and you are told if yours does.
- Get approved and receive an email invitation.
- Sign a contract in the app and set up payment (Stripe Connect or PayPal). Stripe setup takes about an hour.
- Onboard. You are introduced to the Labelbox platform and to Discord, which is used for project notifications and community.
The page does not explain what the interview evaluates, how projects are matched to you, or whether you are an independent contractor or something else. It also does not say anything about guaranteed hours.
What Alignerr pays
Alignerr's home page shows an $80 an hour "average pay" and these listed ranges:
- Italian language expert: $25 to $30 an hour.
- English writing generalist: $30 to $40 an hour.
- Search evaluator and AI training specialist: $40 to $120 an hour.
Its process page shows up to $150 an hour for a finance and accounting expert role. These are Alignerr's own headline figures. How you are actually paid depends on the project's billing mode.
Billing modes matter
According to Alignerr's payment FAQ, a project is set to one of three modes before it starts, and the choice is permanent:
- Per hour. Labelers and reviewers are paid hourly.
- Per task. Labelers are paid per completed task; reviewers are paid hourly.
- Per task per turn. Payment is based on the number of turns, such as messages.
In pay-per-accepted-task projects, only tasks that pass quality review are paid, and tasks that are completed but not accepted are not paid. Payment details are visible before you start a project, so check them first.
How you are paid
- When: a weekly billing cycle that runs Monday to Sunday, with payment by the following Friday.
- How: Stripe or PayPal, decided by your country or region. You cannot choose, and you cannot change the provider, though you can update details like a bank account or email. People hired through Upwork are paid through Upwork instead.
- Conditions: you must wait until you are assigned to a project before setting up payment. Resetting a connected payment method requires a new Persona identity verification.
These details come from Alignerr's payment FAQ, dated 16 April 2026, hosted by Labelbox.
Is Alignerr legit? What reviewers say
On 16 October 2026 Alignerr had a 4.5 TrustScore on Trustpilot from 2,979 reviews: 82 percent five stars, 9 percent one star. Trustpilot does not fact-check reviews, and Alignerr's profile shows no replies to negative reviews. We read 24 recent and summarized reviews.
- Praised: prompt payments, a natural-feeling AI interviewer and helpful support for some.
- Criticized: two reviews report underpayment or non-payment (one says about a quarter of the expected amount, another says about $9,000 for 91 hours is unpaid and emails went unanswered), and one reviewer says there were no projects for three months.
None of the reviews we read explicitly called the company a scam. These are individual accounts we could not verify.
Risks to plan for
- Work is project-based. Pay depends on having active projects.
- Pay mode. Per-task projects only pay for accepted tasks.
- Payment is assigned, not chosen. You use the provider shown for your country.
- Contract terms are not on the page. Read what you sign.
Where you can work from
Alignerr does not list eligible countries on the pages we read. You confirm your location when you set up your profile, and the payment provider depends on your country. We could not confirm whether Mexico is included, so test it by starting an application.

A good fit: experts who are comfortable reading billing terms per project and who treat the work as project-based income.
A poor fit: anyone who needs guaranteed hours or a fixed payment method.
Frequently asked questions
Is Alignerr legit?
It is operated through Labelbox and has nearly 3,000 Trustpilot reviews, 82 percent of them five-star. It also has reviewers reporting underpayment or non-payment and long stretches with no projects. It is not an obvious scam, and its payment rules are documented, but check the pay mode of each project before you start.
When does Alignerr pay?

Can I work for Alignerr from Mexico or Latin America?
Alignerr does not list eligible countries on its pages. You confirm your location during profile setup, and the payment provider depends on your country. Check by starting an application.
