Short answer
micro1 jobs for experts are remote, project-based contracts across engineering, finance, law, health, languages and more. Listed pay runs from about $14 an hour for general evaluation to $100 or more for lawyers and scientists. Certification does not guarantee a project, so treat it as flexible side income.
Two kinds of "micro1 jobs"
People searching for micro1 jobs or careers usually mean one of two things.
- Expert jobs. Remote AI training and evaluation work for people with a skill. This is what most of this page covers.
- The core team. micro1 also has a careers page for its own staff. On 17 October 2026 it described micro1 as a research lab building data infrastructure for frontier AI, and listed benefits including a 401k, health insurance and stock options. That is employment at micro1, not project work.

How to apply
- Browse the opportunities page and pick the role that matches your strongest documented skill.
- Apply, then take the AI interview. micro1's recruiter, Zara, runs it on demand. Practice first with micro1's Interview Prep tool. Our how to become an AI trainer guide has the steps.
- Get certified and onboarded. You see in real time whether you meet the certification criteria, and can request feedback if you do not.
- Wait for a match. Human recruiters match certified experts to projects. You may also receive invitations, and certifying more skills widens what you can be considered for.

What to know about the company
micro1 began as an AI recruiting business and now supplies expert-made training data to AI developers. Forbes reported on 22 September 2026, citing two people familiar with the deal, that it raised more than $100 million at a $4 billion valuation, up from $500 million in September 2025. A micro1 blog post dated 12 October 2026 confirms it priced its Series B at a $4 billion valuation, led by Dream Ventures, but gives no round size, so treat the $100 million figure as Forbes reporting. The article describes founder Ali Ansari as 25 and the company as headquartered in San Francisco.
For job seekers this matters in one way: demand for expert data work has been growing, but project availability still decides whether you get hours.
What the listings do not tell you
- Your actual contract terms. Listings say contractor and remote; read the agreement you sign.
- How the money reaches you. micro1's expert guide says payments are processed biweekly in USD, and its help library says contracts and payroll run through Deel, but the pages we read do not name the payout method itself.
- How many hours a week you will get once matched.
Where you can apply from
micro1 says it hires globally. It cannot hire residents of Afghanistan, Belarus, China, Cuba, the DR Congo, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Macao, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine, Yemen and Ethiopia. Mexico is not on the list. Check micro1 for the current version.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find micro1 jobs?
micro1 has a public opportunities page where you can browse and apply to open roles. After you are certified in a skill you may also receive invitations to relevant projects. Apply only through micro1's own site.
Are micro1 jobs remote?
Yes. micro1 describes its expert opportunities as fully remote and flexible, and the role listing we opened in full was labeled "Role Type: Contractor" and "Location: Remote".
Do micro1 jobs require a degree?
Not all of them. micro1 says opportunities range from early-career professionals to PhDs and industry leaders. Evaluation roles ask for less than law, science or senior finance roles.
What is the difference between micro1 jobs and micro1 careers?
micro1 careers is the page for its own core team (engineering, operations and similar roles), and it lists employee benefits such as a 401k and stock options. micro1 jobs for experts are project-based remote contracts. They are two different things.
How long until I get a project?
micro1's expert guide says certified experts are typically updated on their application status within 30 days. After that there is no published timeline for a project. micro1 says certification does not guarantee placement and that access to projects depends on requirements and availability. Your profile stays active while you wait.
Can I do micro1 jobs from Mexico?
micro1 hires globally with a list of 21 excluded countries and regions. Mexico is not on it.
Is micro1 currently hiring?
Yes, for experts, as far as its public pages show. The opportunities page listed open roles across the families above when we read it on 16 October 2026, but listings change daily, so check the page itself. Its separate careers page is for micro1's own staff.
How much does micro1 pay?
It depends on the role. The listings we saw on 16 October 2026 ran from $14 to $36 an hour for AI Product Evaluator to $175 to $300 for Investment Banking, with the families and ranges in the table above. These are listed rates, not earnings, and hours are not guaranteed.
How much does micro1 pay AI trainers?
micro1's expert guide gives bands rather than one rate: $15 to $40 an hour for general annotation, $20 to $60 for prompt writing and RLHF evaluation, $50 to $100 for domain-specific review and $100 to $200 or more for frontier expert projects. The company states these ranges and does not promise them. See what an AI trainer is for the wider pay picture.
